Corpus Callosum
About Us
Corpus Callosom is the collaborative effort of New York based bohemians Lauren Marie Robbiani, and Lauren Jeanette Caspar aka The Laurens of Arabia. With roots in Belly Dance and Butoh, The Laurens create otherworldly and joyous milieus, scratching the surface of the mundane to reveal the marvelous.
Corpus Callosum has produced both Le Bal Oriental at New York City's Red Room, and Maiden in the Moonshine at Brooklyn's historic Kings County Distillery, which feature world renowned dancers and musicians, and are a hell of a good time, to boot. They are also Co-Producers of Animoon, a dance festival nestled in the Catskills, along with Mardi Love and Duane Bargar.
The Laurens are founding members of Maiden China, and members of the Dalia Carella Dance Collective, De Novo Dance Theater, and Mardi Love's Lady Goodnight and the Voodoo Lilies.
As ringleaders of The Maiden Moon, the Laurens have been featured in Atlas Obscura's Into the Veil, The Great Forgotten Garden Party, and Concerts in the Catacombs. To date, Corpus Callosum has been honored to collaborate with The Crow Quill Night Owls, Mountain Lions, Slavic Soul Party, Courtship Ritual, The Bee's Knees, Seyyah, Dolunay, Adriana Molello, Dan Cantrell, Robert Caldwell, and Takuya Nakamura, to name a few.
Corpus Callosum: the great band of comiseral fibers uniting the cerebral hemisphere of higher mammals, allowing the left and right hemispheres to share information and create an "arguably" useful view of the world. New Latin, literally (callous body).
